Emerson is committed to creating and supporting a culture of inclusivity and diversity. To understand the impact of bias and racism in our employees’ lives, we held our first Courageous Conversation on June 17, 2020. The event was held by our Blacks Reinforcing Diversity Employee Resource Group and Office of Chief Executives (OCE). In a candid discussion, fellow employees shared their personal experience of being black or raising black children. These stories highlighted the fact that racism and bias are prevalent not only in news stories but are something that some of our employees live with on a daily basis.
More Courageous Conversations are needed as these will help to develop and then drive action to achieve a more diverse and inclusive culture at Emerson. We understand that this issue requires and deserves the same focus and vigor that we apply elsewhere in our business.
